Details (Part 6)

The Girl Who Lived

Once the camp is cleaned out and secure, the pair will make a more comfortable camp nearby and the party will have the opportunity to tell their story. They will, of course, remember the ‘girl who lived’ as they call her. They will recount their encounter with a large contingent of marauding undead near the forest’s edge about 3-4 months ago.

  • There were many of these roaming bands and a particularly nasty necromancer had hired carters to find battlefields and bring him the remains of the dead for his necromantic intentions.
  • Luckily, the pair was able to track down the source of the roving undead and defeated the necromancer.
  • But other evil beings were springing up all over the region. Cults and religions that typically shunned the light of day and evaded notice were openly recruiting.
  • One of the last groups of undead, mainly zombies and skeletons had killed everyone; men, women and even the animals at a large farmstead just to the east of here and were heading into the forest
  • The duo could not allow them to get away, so they tracked them down and obliterated the undead using powerful spells.
  • Jana used a spell that turn the undead into dust, preventing them from being raised anew, but one of the zombie remains was not destroyed.
  • She prayed to her goddess and was granted permission to bring this person back to her former life.
  • In her mercy, when she was resurrected, the goddess removed knowledge of the evil deeds that the person had done as an undead thrall.
  • Illendir knew of an old hedge mage at the southern edge of the forest who could take care of her and hopefully reunite her with her people, so the pair transported her there.

If the party wishes to go there, they will offer to take them there tomorrow. Or at least close by where they dropped her off.

The bracelet will relay anxious excitement about this prospect.

If they agree, Jana will pray for two Plane Shift spells, one that will take the group to a demiplane that she knows well; a pleasant glade where she has created a small cottage to “get away from it all”. And then she will cast it again to take everyone back to the southern Verduran forest, very close to Izan’s home.

When the party finally finds and meets with Izan, he will be amazed to see the bracelet and tell them that of course he recognizes it – it was one of the only belongings of a young woman who stayed with him for several months. After she was sufficiently recovered, he made arrangements to have her transported to Cassomir. He found the bracelet a few weeks later and sent a local farmboy named Osto to try to find her, but he returned shortly thereafter beaten badly by a group of thugs who stole everything from him including the bracelet. Interestingly, she came to him without a name, so he named her in the old Taldan language for a ‘lost soul’ – Alma Perdida.
